KCR Refutes Allegation of Diversion of Panchayat Raj Funds

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao refuted the Congress members’ allegation that the government diverting the Panchayat funds are baseless and that it is not right to speak false on the floor of the House.

The Chief Minister has intervened during the Question Hour, when the Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Errabelli Dayakar Rao said that no funds has been stopped pertaining to the seigniorage funds which are derived from Granite, Sand, Queries, Crushers and also denied that Gram Panchayats have been abolished by issuing the G.O. 60 and also denied that the funds of Rs. 15,738 crores released by the Central government under Employment guarantee scheme intended to Gram Panchayats have been diverted, raised by Congress member Bhatti Vikramka Mallu, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Dansari Anasuya. The Congress members were not satisfied with the answer of the Minister, which has led to the Chief Minister to intervene.

The Chief Minister said that the government has made Telangana sarpanches proud across the country by transofrming the villages. He also reminded that villages in the state have received many awards from the centre for its development and the neighbouring states are also surprised after noticing the villages being developed.

He alleged that in the last 10 years of Congress government rule, it had spent on an average of Rs. on every person, while the TRS government is spending Rs. 650 per person. During the previous governments many panchayats have been dissolved and there are also many debts from the previous governments. The Chief Minister said that at the time of conovaris pandemic, the government has stopped the salaries of the Ministers and MLA but it is continuing to make the payment to the Gram Panchayats without break.

The Chief Minister has praised the Congress members for raising this issue, stating that it has an opportunity to the Congress members as well as to the government to present their view before the people and people will decide, he further requested the Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy to allocate one day for the debate on Palle Pragathi, Patana Pragati along with NREGS.
