T GOVT. PLANING TO OPEN SIX NEW UNDERGROUND COAL MINES IN STATE

Hyderabad, March.14 : The state government is planning to open six new underground coal mines in the coming years in Telangana with a total rated capacity of 5.17 MTPA ( million tone per annum ).
Minister for Energy, Jagdishwar Reddy disclosed this in the Telangana Assembly in reply to A question on Wednesday, and said that this would create employment opportunity for 4062 persons. These new mines would be two at Mandamarri in Kasikpet-2 and KK-6 inclines, one at Mauguru in Kondapuram mine, one at Kothagudem in Rampuram Shaft Block and two at Bhoopalpalli in KTK-3 Incline with long wall and another in expansion of KTK-5 Incline.
Replying to supplementary questions by members, the Minister said that measures were also being taken for energy saving by installing LED bulbs. To the demand for implementing wages to the employees including the contract labour, the Minister said minimum wages were paid to them as per the law. Regarding the land acquisition compensation, the District Collectors would take the required decisions in the matter, the minister explained.
Referring to the concern expressed by the members regarding the problems arising out of pollution due to blasting the areas, specially in the nearby residential areas, the Minister said that necessary funds were being allocated to the District Collectors to take all the steps needed to control and prevent pollution.
