Hyderabad, April. 16 : The historic Moazzam Jahi Market in the heart of the city will be developed into a tourist spot by spending Rs 10 cr, Municipal Minister K Taraka Rama Rao has said today. He inspected the famous MJ Market buildings here along with an official team. After going through the area and the movement of traffic, the minister vowed to bring back past glory to the structure by spending adequate funds. The structure should become a tourist spot and the officials have to take immediate steps with modern facilities and fixing the related problems he said. Buildings of MJ Market were neglected for decades and will develop it soon as the government is committed to protect such structures of historic importance he said.
The minister inspected the damaged drainage lane, electricity, pipes, wires, fruit, vegetables and mutton shops, hotels, ice cream parlour and others on the premises and also gazed at the clock tower. He asked the officials to develop it as a tourist spot with all facilities. The minister asked the officials to take up immediate repairs of white topping, facility for running water and drinking water, fixing electricity problems, steps to prevent water stagnation parking at housing board area and barricading against the entry of two-wheelers. In addition to repair stairs, flooring and clock he asked to plunge into action to address all the issues at the MJ Market as Metro Rail will be chugging off in near future.
