Hyderabad: The Hyderabad city police busted a cricket betting racket by arresting four persons. Police seized net cash of Rs 2.03 lakhs and four cell phones from their possession.

Acting on credible information, the sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, North Zone Team, arrested Maya Chandrakanth (36), Vuppala Shashank (40), Rajneesh Kumar (34) and Pavan Agarwal (38) of Afzalgunja on Friday night when they were organizing cricket betting through online betting sites– Tripal7.com, subh999.com, radheexchange.com, Skyexchange.com and accepting betting amount from punters for ongoing cricket battings & other online betting games for earning easy money illegally, a police release here said on Saturday.

Maya Chandrakanth was the main organiser. He engaged Vuppala Shashank, Rajneesh Kumar, Pavan Agarwal and others as agents for collecting betting amounts and remit to the main organiser bank account on 3-5 percent commission.

The apprehended accused persons along with seized material were handed over S.H.O Afzalgunj Police Station for further taking necessary action, the release added.
