Poet Sahir Ludhianvi Remembered

Hyderabad: All India Progressive Writers Association (AIPWA) many Poets and Writers today hailed the services of Sahir Ludhianvi, a renowned poet, writer, progressive and Bollywood songwriter who has mesmerized the world with his poetry. 

He was remembered for writing poems and writings on declining values in society, war, politics, and public issues. They said that Ludhianvi was a great man who paved the way for communism in film songs.  They revealed that the Sahir Ludhianvi centenary celebrations would be held throughout the year.

AIPWA Telangana State Vice President Avadesh Rani said that writers would awaken the society with their pens and added that, without writers and poets, the society would be in awkward situations. She also said that many of the works and poems written by Sahir Ludhianvi should be made available to the public as he had fought for the cause of the society.

The State Vice President of the association Professor Majeed Bedar said that many issues would be discussed on Urdu Literature at Sahir Ludhianvi centenary Celebrations.  He explained that many papers on national, international and national issues were received to discuss during the celebrations.

He said that Sahir Ludhianvi wanted to bring awareness with his writings for bringing those from below the poverty line towards the path of development. He said that the poems of the great poet would always motivate the society and added that they should be promoted in the society.

AIPWA (Urdu) Chief Patron and former MP Syed Aziz Pasha said  Sahir Ludhianvi wrote the songs for ‘Pyasa’ Movie  and helped it become  one of the best films  He said that The then Prime Minister Pandit Nehru said that he was moved by the songs of pyaasa.

The meeting was attended by AIPWA (Urdu) State General Secretary Dr Nikhit Ara Shahin and AIYF State President Wali Ullah Qadri.
