Hyderabad, Mar 22 (Munsif News): The Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao has claimed that the people are happy in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad for the re-opening of the Toddy shops (Kallu Compound) after the TRS government came to power after the formation of separate state of Telangana, these Toddy shops in twin cities were closed by the previous Congress government.
Making a statement on the floor of the House, today, the Chief Minister said that opening of the toddy shops was the promise given in the TRS manifesto to the Toddy tappers who became jobless because of closing of shops. he said that he committed for increasing the productivity of toddy and for providing more employment to toddy tappers and improve their standard of living.
He announced of waiving of all the dues of taxes being collected on toddy trees and also announced for waving off collection of taxes in future, he said from Toddy tress tax, the state was getting the revenue of Rs. 16 crores per annum which will be completely waived away. he said, under Haritha Haram programme 1.70 crores toddy trees has been planted all these will also be exempted from taxes.
The Chief Minister has also announced the pay of exgratia to the toddy tappers from the present Rs. 2 lakhs to Rs. 5 lakhs in case of accidental death or become physically handicapped due to falling from the top of the toddy trees. The Chief Minister said that all the people engaged in toddy tapping and selling will be paid a monthly pension of Rs. 1,000 per month under Aasra. Earlier this pension scheme was only for members of the Toddy Tappers society, with this decision more 30 thousand toddy tappers will be benefitted, he said. (Munsif News)
