Hyderabad, June 2 : The GHMC has taken up construction of one lakh double bed room houses in the city for the poor and the needy, said Mayor Dr B. Rammohan, while participating in Telangana Formation Day celebrations.
Hoisting the National Flag at the GHMC Head Office in the presence of GHMC Commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy, Baba Fasiuddin, Deputy Mayor and senior officials, the Mayor said after formation of Telangana State, a lot of development has taken place and hundreds of crores of rupees were being spent on various schemes like SRDP, 2BHK, HMR and other innovative programs taken up by the government unlike other States. Various States were wondering at the fast development in the State and also to make the city to that of a World Class.
Baba Fasiuddin, Deputy Mayor, said after a continuous struggle of 14 years the Telangana State was formed and for the overall development of the state and the city, everyone must take moral responsibility and come forward to make the city into a world class as per the vision of the CM.
Dr B. Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner, GHMC, said, “this year must be observed as Swachh Year” to make Hyderabad City as a Swachh City, a lot of initiatives have been taken up by the GHMC for which the GHMC has achieved the Solid Waste Management Award from the Centre recently. So far, the GHMC bagged 13 National Awards, he pointed out. He said the GHMC has some 30,000 officials and staff, who are working for overall development of the City and a lot of importance was being given to wet and dry segregation of garbage. The officials are interdependent among themselves and everyone must play a very key role taking moral responsibility for the overall development of the city.
