I APPEAL CONSUMERS NOT TO SELL RATION RICE IN BLACK MARKET : ETELA

Hyderabad, May 30 (Munsif News) : The TRS government in its 4 years rule claimed that it has streamlined the Public Distribution system and was able to eradicate bogus ration cards and now the Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies, Etela Rajender appeal to the poor consumers not to lift the only rice which is being supplied from the Fair price shop for the purpose of selling the same rice in black market at the rate of Rs. 10 per kg.

Speaking to press persons, along with the Chairman of Civil Supplies Corporation, Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, Commissioner Akun Sabharwal and others at Secretariat, today, the Minister said that the consumers who has the white ration card earlier was being used for the purpose of availing scholarship and fee reimbursement, tretment under Aarogysri, Housing and other welfare scheme is now no more in use, as the Civil Supplies department has made it clear that this Ration Card (Now Food Security Card) is only meant for lifting the rice from Fair Price Shops.

He alleged, that the many families have taken the White Ration Cards and now the Food Security Card for the purpose of other welfare scheme, but they were not consuming the rice, instead they are selling the ration rice in black market. He said, if they do not consume Ration rice not to lift it.

The Finance Minister and Civil Supplies Minister said that the Central government is giving ration rice at Rs. 3 kg to 1.91 crore population of Telangana at 5 kg per head per month. But the State government is giving to Ration rice to 2.74 crore population at 6 kg per head at Re 1 per kg. he alleged that the Ration rice is being recycled because of the consumers are consuming it and selling in black market.

When pointed out that poor consumers are the accused for the recycling, the Minister said not to mis-understand, appealing the consumer not to lift Ration rice if they are not consuming is only check misuse. If anybody comes forward and say that he does not require the Ration rice, the government will only stop rice supply but it will not cancell the card.

To an another question on pending application for Food Security Card, the Minister said so far about 2 lakh applications has been received out of it 70 thousand has been scrutinised. He said issuing of fresh cards is the continuous process. (Munsif News)
