Cyber cops arrest one for job fraud

Hyderabad, Feb.12 : Rachakonda Cyber police have arrested one Hema Siva Kumar Thanniru alias Akash Manduri, 30, a native of Kadapa town, for allegedly cheating a student from L.B.Nagar and making him to credit funds to a bank account towards processing fee for job with Capgemini, Hyderabad.
Based on the petition of C.S. Reddy, an engineering graduate from Omkar Nagar, L.B.Nagar, a case was registered under Sections 417, 419, 420 IPC and 66C & 66D IT Act. In his petition, he mentioned that he credited Rs 50,000 on October 2 last year to a Bengaluru based bank account in the name of Manduri Akash as initial payment out of a total fee of Rs 1,70,000 responding to an SMS that he received application from phone number 9900193546 for the job of Java Developer with Capgemini, Hyderabad.
Interview was conducted through phone calls and he was asked to make the remaining payment and kept on delaying issue of offer letter. Suspecting fraud, the complainant confronted Akash and asked him to return the money that he paid. Akash stopped responding to phone calls of the complainant.
Investigation revealed that accused Hema Siva Kumar Thanniru in 2014 used fake address and identity proofs in the name of Manduri Akash, with a Nizampet address, opened four bank accounts, two each, with HDFC Bank and Andhra Bank in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. He used these accounts for getting funds credited in many such frauds. The accused conducted fake telephonic interviews, through a person from Electronic City, Bengaluru under the disguise of genuine recruitment process of various MNCs like Capgemini, Accenture and so on and cheated the victims.
The case was investigated by D. Ashish Reddy, Inspector, under the supervision of S. Harinath, ACP, Cyber Cell, Rachakonda and guidance of K.R. Nagaraju, DCP (Crimes), Rachakonda. The Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda Mahesh M. Bhagwat, IPS, appreciated the efforts of Cyber Cell police in detecting the case.
