COTA Demands Comprehensive Policy for NRIs

They said that lakhs of Indians are working in foreign countries and sending thousands of crores to the country as well as to the Telangana State.

Hyderabad: Coalition of Overseas Telangana Association (COTA) has demanded both the Central and the State government to make a comprehensive policy for the lakhs of Non Resident Indians (NRIs) working across the World for their welfare and protection to them and their families at both in the country as well as in abroad. 

Speaking on the occasion of Telangana Pravasi Diwas Celebrations, today the Chairman of COTA, Mudlapudi Venkat Aamrith, M.Bheem Reddy, Immigrants Welfare Front, President, along with Basheer Ahmed NRI from Oman, Bindu Latha from United States of America, V. Laxman Reddy from South Africa, has said that lakhs of Indians are working in foreign countries and sending thousands of crores to the country as well as to the Telangana State.

But unfortunately, they are being neglected. They do not have proper facilities in the foreign country particularly in the Gulf countries. In Gulf countries the people are in jail on the pity cases, no one is there to represent their cases in the courts; they said that they need the legal advisor in every Embassy who knows Telugu and Urdu particularly in Gulf countries. 

They said thousands of Indians are working heading the companies in foreign countries and other professionals such as Doctors, Engineers, Scientists, etc. The requirement of manpower is also large in the foreign countries for the Indians. 

Some people without any proper documents and arrangements comes to foreign countries and they will be landing in the jails, to overcome this problem, they require Bhavans; they said it would be proper for having Telangana Pravasi Bhavan in Hyderabad, so that here the unemployed youths who desire to go foreign countries in search of jobs can contact at Bhavan and get the proper guidance. 

They said as thousands of professionals are going abroad and doing service there, these Bhavan can make suggestions to these professionals to contribute to the Telangana state, so that it can be brain gain not brain drain. Apart from these issues, they also demanded the voting right and facilities should be provided to the NRIs to vote digitally.

The COTA has also decided to facilitate the professional NRIs belonging to the Telangana from next year.
