City police commissioner prohibits kite-flying on roads, around holy places

Hyderabad, Jan.10 : In order to maintain law and order and to prevent incidents of breach of peace and accidents while kite flying during Sankranthi festival on January 14 and 15, City police commissioner Anjani Kumar, IPS, ordered that kite flying on all thoroughfares and in and around places of worship be prohibited.

The CP appealed to parents and citizens to advise their children not to fly kites from the terraces, which do not have parapet walls, to avoid any untoward incident. “They should also advice their children not to run on the roads while flying kites or trying to collect stray kites. Children should be made aware of their vulnerability as regards electrocution, if they try to collect stray kites from electric poles. The revelers shall not collect wood forcibly for bonfires and they should use wood only with the consent of owners”, he added.

The CP also said any person violating the order will be prosecuted under Hyderabad City Police Act. The order will be in force from 6 am on January 14 to 6 am on January 16.
