Hyderabad, Sept.23 : Rachakonda Cyber Crime Police arrested one Veeresh Khanapure, a private employee of Bidhar, Karnataka State for hacking email and facebook accounts and intimidated the victim to post morphed images in social media.
On receiving a complaint from the victim on September 14 that his e-mail id was hacked on September 5, 2017 by an unidentified person, the police registered a case under Sections 417,419, 468, 471 IPC and Section 66, 66C of IT Act and took up investigation. The Cyber crime police detected that the hacker copied complainant’s photos and contacts. On September 7, the accused greeted the complainant saying he would tell his fiancée to attend his call or else face consequences.
The accused had copied contents such as photos and documents by hacking his email and facebook account and created fake facebook ID in the name of the victim and posted the content as if the victim was posting the content. Messages were sent to the contacts of the victim via social media through fake email and facebook accounts.
The investigation team, based on technical evidence, identified the accused and went to Bidar and apprehended him at his residence at Akkamahadevi Colony, Bidar and brought him to Hyderabad. During interrogation, the accused confessed to his crime stating he got annoyed as the girl whom he wanted to have friendship engaged with the victim, Therefore, in order to take revenge, he hacked the email and facebook accounts of the victim, created fake facebook account in the name of victim and posted the photographs stolen from hacked email account of the victim and circulated among the contacts of the victims.
The police seized the mobile phone containing the incriminating evidence from the accused and produced him before the court which remanded him to judicial custody today.
