Bharath Bandh receives mixed response in Telugu States

Hyderabad, Sept.10 : The Bharat Bandh received mixed response in two Telugu States. The buses ran since morning at several places across the state but some places the buses confined to depots. The Congress, CPI, CPM and several other peoples’ organisations participated in the bandh. In Hyderabad, Youth Congress under the aegis of its president Anil Kumar Yadav burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Basheer Bagh Chowrasta. The activists raised slogans against Modi demanding the latter to decrease the prices of petrol and diesel immediately.

At several places the activists tried to close the business and commercial complexes but the police arrested them immediately. Most of the educational institutions were closed on their own in twin cities. The police arrested several Congress party leaders including AICC representative Boseraju and former MLA D Sudhir Reddy in Dilsukh Nagar when they tried to obstruct the RTC buses. In several districts buses were plied freely and business, commercial complexes were opened in district head quarters like Suryapet, Bhongir.

In Andhra Pradesh, the bandh impact was severe when compared with Telangana state. Educational, business and commercial complexes were closed everywehere in the state. The police arrested CPI, Jana Sena, CPM and Congress party activists when they tried to obstruct the RTC buses. (NSS)
